Sustainable Silverware

Have silverware that has started to rust or is bent in every possible way? Don’t throw them away but use them in these creative ideas that can add something special to your home.

Instead of buying hooks from the store that can put a dent in your wallet. You can flatten out silverware and nail them to the wall to create your own hooks for keys, coats, or for anything you would like! For full instructions and story behind these hooks, go to readymade.com!

The next two ideas were found on countryliving.com. The first idea is to use two of the same or different pieces of silverware as door pulls. These door pulls can be used anywhere in the house (why not try using these fork and spoon door pulls on your kitchen cabinets.) The next idea is similar to wall hooks, but instead you can create a hook to tie back your curtains for your windows! For instructions for the curtain tieback and door pulls click here!

Another idea that might take a little bit more work is a silverware chandelier that can be found on Re-nest. You can create this lighting fixture for cheap and it also acts as a conversation piece when you have guests come over.

If you are feeling really ambitious, you can create a chair out of silverware! This functional chair (shown on the right) was created by Osian Batyka – Williams.
